Sign language often uses the "list" classifier in order to refer to elements of a group. This is done using the non-dominant hand, with the palm towards the signer and fingers outstretched, as many fingers as elements in the group, with a maximum of 10, in which case the dominant hand is also used.

This use of the "list" sign is useful, among other things, to indicate order relationships within the group:

    "Of the five brothers and sisters I am the fifth."
    "Out of the five you are third. Congratulations!"
