The "yes/no" sign is a reinforcing element in such a question type when demanding an immediate and specific answer. It's accompanied by non-manual components consisting of moving the head and torso forward. See the following example.

    "Do you want supper? Because the food is ready."
    "Will you come skiing with us? If you want to come I'll have to leave home earlier."
